This baseball fan ate 83 helmet nachos in one season
At what point are you more helmet nacho than person?

Satoshi (aka @helmetnachos17) is obsessed with helmet nachos. It’s a fairly recent obsession, but his clear passion and excitement for the savory ballpark treat (if can call something a treat when it’s served in a bowl literally the size of one’s head) has made him somewhat recognizable at the ballpark, netting him 43 thousand followers on TikTok and 50 thousand on YouTube.
I ran into Satoshi at the end of a spring training game at Tempe Diablo this year and chatted with him about how he fell in love with helmet nachos. The story is fairly straightforward. Satoshi started going to Angels games in 2021 with his boss. At his very first game, his boss bought him an order of helmet nachos. His reaction? “Wow this is the best food I’ve ever eaten.”
Satoshi began to go to games more often, and in the 2023 season, he posted a video online declaring that he’d attend all home games that season and eat an order of helmet nachos at every game. While many likely doubted that he’d be able to accomplish such a feat, Satoshi did follow through, attending all home games at Angel Stadium that year and eating a whopping eighty-three orders of helmet nachos. He even reached out to The Angels to ask if he could throw the first pitch, and they said yes.
Though Satoshi’s Year of The Helmet Nacho is now over, he hasn’t given them up. In fact, when I met him, he had an empty plastic helmet on his table. He believes he’s now eaten more than a hundred orders of nachos, which is easy to believe. His favorite protein option is chicken, which he says is better than the carne asada and maintains a firm belief that the best place to order helmet nachos is in section 240.
Of course, Satoshi isn’t glued to his helmet nachos the whole game long. He stays up to date with what’s going on with the Angels, and his current favorite player is the Angels’ young first baseman Nolan Schanuel.
If you like Satoshi’s vibe, he’s got helmet nachos merch for sale, so you can join the helmet nachos fan club.
